"In 1996 I had the chance to observe
lions in Chobe National Park in Botswana. Very early in the
morning the lionesses caught a buffalo, and after a while
the lion appeared gracefully. His movements were powerful
but elegant at the same time. All day long I observed the
lion pack and shot several films. These photographs were a
great help afterwards to create the models because lions in
the wild have a slimmer and more muscular body than those
in the zoo."

After the body and limbs of our limited
edition lion have been stuffed and hand-sewn together,
the lion is hand-shaped. This task is being performed
by Annekatrin Mehlan herself. She also paints the face
on each animal.

"The fox is one of
our most beautiful wild animals, often seen in the wild and
increasingly so in city centres. I did my drawings in an animal
sanctuary where injured animals are being looked after."
