2001 : 2 limited edition polar bears

"Even as a child I was impressed by the polar bears in the zoo: their easy elegance and strength is shared with a childlike playfulness. They are even more fascinating to me since I have read how well adapted they are to life in the Arctic. For example the skin beneath their lightly coloured fur is black in order to absorb the sun's warmth. This black skin can be seen on the nose and the balls of their feet. While I was sketching them in the zoo I noticed that their bodies are longer than those of other bears. The neck is relatively long, and from chin to throat they have a sort of mane.
I took great joy in including these special details in our Limited Collection of polar bears."
